Governor Newsom is pushing a new bill to lower gas prices. He introduced it yesterday after the first version stalled. Lawmakers didn’t take action by last weekend’s deadline so Newsom called for a special session. The state Assembly is on board but the Senate still refuses to return this fall to consider the legislation. The governor wants to prevent gas shortages by making oil refiners keep a minimum fuel reserve when they go down for maintenance. He says “California won’t stand by as families get gouged.”
