Community Conversations on Race – Angie Dillon Shore, First 5 Sonoma County

Host Michelle Marques talks with Angie Dillon Shore, Executive Director at First 5 Sonoma County. Angie talks about efforts at First 5 to uplift and support BIPOC families, who were impacted much more profoundly by the pandemic, and whose children are more likely to be at a disadvantage as they start kindergarten. In 2020, First 5 decided to actively focus on BIPOC children and their families, and have created a draft of actionable programs.

One program that is about to accept applications (beginning September 1st) is a Guaranteed Basic Income pilot program. It is funded by money from the American
