Over a hundred high school seniors were celebrated this week at the 37th annual Community Youth Service Awards for their extraordinary contributions to the North Bay.
Per the Press Democrat, from launching the region’s first high school Mariachi class to creating global tutoring platforms, twelve standout students received $1,000 scholarships for excellence in categories like Agriculture, STEM, and Inspiring Diversity. These young leaders were recognized for balancing rigorous academics with deep civic engagement, including local environmental restoration and legal advocacy for Spanish-speaking residents.
The event, hosted by The Press Democrat and sponsored by Oliver’s Market, highlighted how these students are already shaping the future of their communities. Winners included student leaders who fought to save local schools, organized youth sports programs, and provided mental health support to peers in crisis.
Organizers say the awards serve as a powerful reminder of the passion and resilience of the Class of 2026 as they prepare to take their talents beyond the North Bay.
