Retired Sheriff’s Sergeant Appointed to Santa Rosa School Board

The Santa Rosa City Schools board appointed retired Sheriff’s Sergeant Shaun Du Fosee Wednesday night to fill a vacant seat representing Area 2. Du Fosee, a labor consultant and father of two students in the district, was selected in a 5-1 vote to serve the remaining eight months of the current term.

Per the Press Democrat, during his interview, he cited his 32 years in law enforcement as proof that educational opportunities are the best defense against the criminal justice cycle.

He also highlighted his extensive background in financial analysis and labor relations as key tools to help the district navigate its ongoing fiscal crisis. Du Fosee beat out two other candidates for the position, which oversees four campuses in northwest Santa Rosa.

His top priority, he says, is restoring stability to the district while ensuring the budget crisis doesn’t overshadow the primary goal of student education.
