Letitia also shares tips for your roof for the Fall and Winter:
1 – Clean Your Roof Your roof, gutters, and downspouts should be cleaned once to twice per year.
2 – Trim Overhanging Trees Trees can scrape your roof and damage it, and branches can also fall and damage your roof.
3 – Install Gutter Guards Keep water flowing with clear gutters.
4 – Look for Signs of Algae and Moss A clean roof is a stronger roof.
5 – Inspect Your Attic Have someone inspect your attic for water stains or signs of leaks.
In the second half of the show, Letitia chats with Tyla Brown, Partnerships Development Manager for MCE. She collaborates with organizations throughout their service area to promote green jobs, climate education, and green technologies that build climate resilient communities. MCE began as Marin Clean Energy but now encompasses a greater geographical area, including Solano, Napa, and Contra Costa counties. Tyla has collaborated with the Next Gen Trades Academy in Marin, and tells students that there are lots of opportunities in the energy sector. She recommends looking for jobs in manufacturing, installation, and maintenance. For consumers, she recommends timing the use of major appliances outside of the peak times to save resources and money.
MCE’s Emergency Water Heater Incentive provides contractors $1,500 to help cover the cost of installing and maintaining a temporary loaner water heater (gas or electric) before permanent replacement with a heat pump water heater.
