In today’s episode, Letitia Hanke, CEO of ARS Roofing and Founder and Executive Director of The LIME Foundation opens the show with details about the July 4th holiday. There are many celebrations and fireworks shows to enjoy this week, including Cloverdale's 3rd annual 4th of July Parade, which kicks off at 10am. The Green Music Center is hosting a fireworks show and performance by the Santa Rosa Symphony and the Transcendence Theater Company. In the second half of the show, Letitia chats with Kathy Goodacre, CEO of CTE Foundation Sonoma County. CTE stands for Career Technical Education, and Kathy has served as the CEO since 2013. She has a passion for ensuring all students see a viable education and career path out of high school. CTE Foundation offers a Tinker Academy to help middle school girls and minorities get hands on experience and exposure to STEM career options. This early exposure can help foster an interest in the trades, science, math, tech, and engineering, fields which typically struggle to employ women and minorities. Kathy also sees CTE training as vital to combatting climate change, as many of these fields deal directly with climate issues. She also shares the details about Sonoma Corps, a college and career readiness program designed to help students build a foundation for a successful future through immersive career exploration and development opportunities in addition to a paid internship experience.
