Sonoma County and the Town of Windsor may not be able to avoid state-mandated housing goals. Last week, the Association of Bay Area Governments issued preliminary denials of appeals by the county and Windsor to reduce their housing goals. It means the two entities would need to put dramatically more housing plans in motion for all income levels between 2023 to 2031. The county would need to build 3,881 total units and Windsor would need to build 993 units. Also, at least half of those units needs to be for low income residents. A final vote by the Association of Bay Area Governments is expected on November 12th.
