Santa Rosa Man Arrested After Sunday Night Gunfire

A 42-year-old man is in custody this morning following reports of shots fired near Sebastopol Avenue late Sunday night.

The Press Democrat reports Santa Rosa police responded to the scene just after 11:00 p.m., quickly detaining the suspect near Earle Street and Corby Avenue.

Officers recovered a loaded 9mm “ghost gun” and matching shell casings nearby, though fortunately, no injuries were reported. The suspect, who was already on pre-trial release for a prior arrest, now faces several new charges including negligent discharge of a firearm.

This arrest comes as police report a massive surge in ghost gun seizures, with 177 recovered so far this year compared to just three by this time in 2025.
