Petaluma is gearing up for the 12th annual LumaCon, returning to the Petaluma Community Center on Saturday, January 31st.
Per the Press Democrat, the popular youth-focused comic convention is back and bigger than ever this year. Organizers say the 2026 event will feature doubled sessions for Live Action Role Play, a more robust Dungeons and Dragons area, and a showcase of work from both professional and student comic artists.
Attendees can expect to see movie-quality costumes from the 501st Legion “Star Wars” group, as well as a local cosplay competition. Librarians say the event has become a community staple, with local schools submitting dozens of entries for this year’s official poster contest.
LumaCon is free to the public and runs throughout the day. For those looking to craft their first costume, the Petaluma Regional Library is currently offering a special collection of “how-to” books to help you get ready for the big day.
