Sonoma County Focus – Polly Klaas Community Theater and Polly Klaas Foundation

sonomacountyfocussquare

Host Michelle Marques talks with Raine Howe, the Executive Director of the Polly Klaas Foundation about a series of events in the next month that support the efforts of keeping children safe in our community. It has been nearly 30 years since 12-year-old Polly Klaas was abducted from her bedroom in Petaluma. The months long search that sadly ended in the tragic discovery that Polly had been killed the night she was taken, inspired new ways for law enforcement to look for missing children, and the tip line that was set up to find Polly began to ring with questions from other families asking for help to find their own missing children. Learn more about the Polly Klaas Foundation online by clicking here.

The newly reopened Polly Klaas Community Theater in Petaluma is celebrating its one year anniversary with a fundraiser on Saturday, September 23rd from 4 to 7pm, featuring award winning singer Faith Ako, hula dancing, flower leis, food, beverages, and auction items. The proceeds will benefit both the Polly Klaas Community Theater and Maui Strong. Get tickets and details by clicking here.

Support the Polly Klaas Foundation on Saturday, October 3rd at the Rip City Riders' Chilly Billy Fun Run! This is a great event for the whole family at the Petaluma Fairgrounds from 11am to 5pm. It features a raffle for a Harley Davidson Motorcycle, great BBQ, live music, a hot rod and motorcycle show, and much more! This is a FREE event, but bring some cash to enjoy that delicious BBQ! Get details by clicking here.

And finally, attend a book reading by author Kim Cross and a panel featuring some of the law enforcement officers and volunteers who worked to find Polly, at the Luchessi Center in Petaluma on Saturday, October 14th at 6pm. Cross will read from her new book, In Light of All Darkness: The Polly Klaas Legacy.  Hear firsthand from the FBI agents, Petaluma detectives, and local volunteers what truly happened 30 years ago—and how it changed their lives. Tickets are available through Copperfield's Books and $10 from each ticket will support the Polly Klaas Foundation.
