Sonoma County Focus – 2023 Gravenstein Apple Fair

Host Michelle Marques talks with Carmen Snyder, Executive Director of Sonoma County Farm Trails, about the 50th Anniversary Gravenstein Apple Fair, Saturday and Sunday, August 12 and 13 at Ragle Ranch Park in Sebastopol. This fair is all about the wonderful agriculture in Sonoma County, and supports the farmers who work so hard all year long. Listen to music on two stages, enjoy ag games with the whole family, attend demos at the Life on the Farm exhibit, shop from local vendors, and of course enjoy the Gravenstein apple in all forms. At the Table – Gravenstein Apple Fair: Life On The Farm

Host Clark Wolf talks with Ellen Cavalli, Membership & Marketing Manager for Sonoma County Farm Trails about the 2023 Gravenstein Apple Fair. The focus of today's show is the wonderful educational demos that you can visit at the Life On The Farm stage.

Guests in this show:

Gina Clemens, a UC Master Food Preserver who will be doing a demo on drying and preserving the apple harvest. Gina will also have an exhibit table all weekend on safe food preservation with other Master Preservers.

Emily Robinson, a fiber artist and teacher who enjoys spinning wool, repairing clothing, weaving, and building fiber tools. She has four very friendly sheep and loves working with their wool in particular. She teaches weekly sewing and knitting classes at the Sebastopol Library, as well as providing mending services at local clothing swaps. She'll be doing a demo on hand spinning and weaving, and bringing her home-made small loom to the Gravenstein Apple Fair.
